Ratio, Proportion, and Percents

Jeannie takes inventory of her closet and discovers that she has 8 shirts for every 5 pair of jeans. If she has 40 shirts, how many pairs of jeans does she have?

Please answer the question and then explain how you did it. Have fun!

  1. If she has 40 shirts then she has 25 pairs of jeans, because an 8:5 ratio would make 40 shirts and 25 pairs of jeans.
